Irish justice minister has described the findings of an inquiry into child abuse by Catholic priests in the Dublin archdiocese.
Months after the Ryan report detailed shocking abuse in Irish institutions, this is a report into how 46 individual priests abused hundreds of children wherever and whenever the opportunity arose.
It paints an appalling picture of a cover-up by both the church and state, right up until the mid-90s when child abuse had already supposedly started to be confronted. Archbishop after archbishop concealed the truth from the police.
Today the current archbishop of Dublin apologised to the victims. We’ll have a report on how this happened on such a systematic scale.
